Nagasaki Prefecture, Shimabara City won the Grand Prize in the "Minna no Kankou Poster Contest 2021" sponsored by SB Japan Co.

<Poster Objective>

Due to the spread of the coronavirus, the number of tourists to Shimabara City has been declining, therefore the work on the poster began around August 2021. In Shimabara City, there are many historical tourist attractions such as Shimabara Castle and samurai residences. The concept behind this poster is "Is there more to Shimabara tourism than just history?!"

The ukiyo-e(Japanese Art) illustrations not only give an impact at first glance and also a sense of history. This time, however, we are not going to attack Shimabara, but rather to enjoy "the Shimabara of today". It is designed so that people can imagine what it is really like by looking at the expressions of the characters. A woman carrying a bottle of spring water, a general looking at a tourist magazine, people writing wishes on yellow handkerchiefs, and so on.
