Fukuoka-ken
Writer: Chau Nguyen Hoai An
Hello everyone, my name is An. I am from Da Nang, Vietnam and i’m currently studying at Aso
Foreign Language Tourism & Patissier College. Nice to meet you guys.
The reason I chose Fukuoka for study abroad is it seems like my hometown. Kind people, delicious foods,
many beautiful views, and convenient transportation. All of these make me feel that it’s my second home.
Honestly, I am a nature lover and love to travel. They said that temples and shrines are famous in Japan
and for me, one of the most impressive places was Miyajidake Shrine.
At the beginning of April, I came here right on the occasion of cherry blossom season. Miyajitake Shrine
is located in Fukutsu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. You have to take the train to Fukuma Station and
move about 6 minutes to arrive the shrine by bus. You can walk also, but I guess it will take you
about 20 minutes.
The first thing I saw after I had gone upstairs was “The path of light”. One of the famous tourist destinations
in Fukuoka Prefecture. Why do people call this “The path of light”? Since it is clear to see from here when
the sun sets on the sea in the afternoon. This forms a light path straight to the shrine.
If you want to enjoy this moment, let’s go at the right time to see it clearly.
When I reached the main hall, the first thing that surprised me was the huge rope being hung in front of
the door. 2.6 meters in diameter, 11 meters long and weighs 3 tons.
This is one of the three largest ropes in Japan woven from rice plants.
Next is the largest drum in Japan with a diameter of 2.2 meters, this drum is only used once on January 1
(Tet holiday in Japan). In my opinion, the drumbeat is the signal for a new year coming announcement
and if you have a chance to hear, I think it will certainly be interesting.
But after all, what I like most is the lake behind the shrine. It was really very wide, fortunately
I came here just when the cherry blossoms were blooming so the scenery was like in the comics.
I can not forget the view of hundreds of cherry blossom trees and petals falling pinking the streets,
it was so amazing that I couldn’t put it into words.
There is also a zoo with ostriches, goats, … extremely cute.
For a nature lover like me, this is truly a place not to be missed. You can come here anytime in the year,
try it once, I make sure your heart will fall in love with it in the first seeing.
