Are you thinking of visiting Itoshima?

Here are the places I visited with some friends on our mini road trip.

If you have a car, you can easily visit Itoshima from Fukuoka city in less than an hour.

Along the way, you can enjoy the cool breeze and beautiful view of the sea with fishing boats.

The best time for oysters in Itoshima is during late autumn to the end of winter so our first stop was none other than Itoshima’s famous Kakigoya (Oyster Hut).

We visited a store called Miwa-chan Kaki. As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted and handed plastic coats and gloves. It was to keep us clean and safe when cooking on a charcoal grill. On the menu, there were various kinds of seafood from oysters, clams, shrimp, etc. to choose from. We even had some grilled potatoes with melted butter for the sides. The oysters were so fresh that I felt like I could taste the sea.

Not only was the food great but the experience of grilling the oysters was also exciting.

After our very satisfying lunch, we decide to help our tummy digest by going to Mount. Tateishi Nature Trail for a casual hike.

It was a 15 min car ride from the restaurant.

The nature hike up Mt.Tateishi was nice and relaxing.

On the hike, we were blessed with the beautiful view of the blue Genkai Sea and the greens surrounding Keya Oto. It only took us 30 mins to reach the top If you love nature and taking photos, this is the place for you.

We ended our trip with the beautiful sunset. It was truly a sight to behold.
