Fukuoka has the largest population in the Kyushu region and is the administrative, economic and transportation center of Kyushu. It is also known as the “Gateway to Asia” because it is a hub for domestic and international transportation. It is blessed with nature and has abundant fresh seafood and mountain products, especially Tonkotsu Ramen, Mizutaki (chicken hot pot), and Motsunabe (beef tripe hot pot) are famous.
Traditional festivals are also held in various places, such as “Hakata Dontaku”, “Hakata Gion Yamakasa”, “Ogura Gion Taiko”, “Tobata Gion Oyamakasa”, “Kawawatarijinkousai “, “Oniyo of Daizenji Tamataregu” etc., will be crowded with many tourists.

Fukuoka Tower

This is the symbol of Fukuoka city; you can enjoy a panoramic view of Fukuoka from the observatory 123m above ground. It is also known as a “place for lovers”.

Canal City

This is one of Fukuoka’s largest complexes. There are not only shopping facilities, but also a movie theater and a theater and other facilities. Events are held from time to time, making it a fun place to spend an entire day.

Dazaifu Tenmangu

The shrine is honored as the head shrine of about 12,000 shrines across Japan enshrining Sugawara Michizane, and is revered as the god of learning, sincerity, and warding off evil. There are many stylish cafes and souvenir shops along the approach to the shrine, and the shrine is full of elements that will stimulate your senses.

Uminonakamichi Seaside Park

This is a national park that stretches approximately 6 kilometers from east to west and covers an area of approximately 300 hectares. You can enjoy seasonal flowers throughout the year, the ‘Animal Forest’ where you can interact with animals, an outdoor leisure pool, and many other leisure activities in an urban setting.

Hakata ramen

Hakata ramen, which is made with thin, straight noodles in a ‘tonkotsu’ (pork bone) broth, is the most popular type of ramen in Fukuoka. As each ramen shop pursues its own individuality, the flavors and appearances vary widely.

Mizutaki

Hakata Mizutaki is a local cuisine of Hakata, Fukuoka. This is a one-pot dish (nabe) made by simmering vegetables and other ingredients in a thick chicken broth, which is packed with the flavor of chicken.

Mentaiko

The most standard of all the Hakata souvenirs. Cod’s ovaries are seasoned with red hot pepper. It is the best accompaniment to white rice.

Amaou sweet

‘Amaou’ is the king of strawberries, named after its initials: sweet (Amai), round (Marui), big (Ookii) and sweet (Umai). It is produced only in Fukuoka and is known as a high-class strawberry, and there are many souvenirs using ‘Amaou’.

Hakata Gion Yamakasa

It is a dedication ritual of Kushida Shrine that has been continued for more than 700 years and is held from July 1st to 15th every year. During the festival, ‘Kazariyama’ (decorative floats) are set up at 14 locations in the city and attract many spectators. The highlight of the festival is ‘Oiyama’, where the floats run around the city in the early morning of the last day of the festival.

Hakata Dontaku

The festival is held for two days on May 3rd and 4th every year in Fukuoka City. The most distinctive feature of the festival is the parade of dancers beating ‘shamoji’ (wooden spoon). The entire city is in full swing, with stages set up all over the city.
