Hakusan City, which has the largest area in Ishikawa Prefecture, is a town at the foot of Mt. Hakusan, one of the three famous mountains in Japan.

Shiramine, one of the most-heavy snowfall areas in Japan, gave birth to a traditional area where a unique culture due to the heavy snowfall has prospered since ancient times.

The “Snowman Festival” is held every year there. Every year, about 1,500 snowmen of various sizes are lined up by the inhabitants. The snowmen made in front of each house are lit up by the gentle candlelight, creating a fantastic atmosphere throughout the town.
